The Lisboa City Council intends to participate in the celebration for the European Days of Jewish Culture 2026, promoting three guided visits of Lisboa's Jewish historical heritage in the historic center. It will be an interesting opportunity to discover tangible and intangible evidence of a Jewish presence in the Tagus city related to the medieval period.
This municipal initiative invites people to discover places, stories and memories that highlight the contribution of the medieval Jewish community to the development of Lisboa's historical, cultural, and social identity, valuing a heritage that integrates its diversity.
The visits aim to contribute to the participants' knowledge and appreciation of Lisboa's Jewish historical and cultural heritage, promoting the dissemination and the disclosure of an old legacy that constitutes an essential part of the city's history.
The initiative aims to promote and value the Jewish historical and cultural heritage of medieval Lisboa, raising public awareness of its relevance to the history of the city and of Europe. This initiative also aims to celebrate cultural diversity, promote intercultural dialogue and encourage meetings among different traditions.
According with the European theme for 2026 "LOVE”, these shorts guided visits aim to reinforce values such as empathy, mutual respect, inclusion and coexistence among people of different origins, contributing to a greater understanding of a shared heritage.
This municipal event includes three guided visits of Jewish Lisboa, in the historical center of the Portuguese capital. The visits, led by Manuel Fialho, researcher and PhD in Medieval History, will take place on October 26th, 28th and 30th, and last two hours.
This celebration of Jewish culture will be advertised in the "Agenda Lisboa Cultura" and other official communication channels of the Lisboa City Council namely through the publication and disclosure of an invitation poster designed by João Rodrigues.
Briefly, the itinerary for the guided visits is: 1. Road junction of Rua dos Fanqueiros and Rua de S. Nicolau. 2. Money Museum. 3. Praça do Comércio. 4. Casa dos Bicos. 5. Hotel Áurea Museum Lisboa. 6. Rua da Judiaria [Jewish Quarter].

"Love That Takes Root"
The motto of the European Days of Jewish Culture 2026 – "Love" – inspires us to look at the history of the Częstochowa Jewish community from a different perspective: not through the lens of tragedy, but of life. We want to tell the story of people who loved their families, their city, their culture, and their traditions. People who, over generations, helped build Częstochowa, leaving behind a heritage that continues to enrich us today.
For centuries, Częstochowa was a meeting point for diverse cultures and religions. The Jewish community played a significant role in the city's development, contributing to its economic, social, and cultural life. Today, the memory of this heritage is preserved through the work of The World Society of Częstochowa Jews, which was led for many years by Zygmunt Rolat, an Honorary Citizen of Częstochowa.
We invite interested people to join us on a guided tour through one of the largest jewish cemeteries of Burgenland, Austria.
We start with a 30 minute recitation in the town hall.
Afterwards we go to the cemetery, where Mr. Mag. Johannes Reiss will hold a 90 minute presentation on several remarkable places of the cemetery.

Would you like to explore the traces of Jewish heritage in Osijek? Join us on a guided walking tour from Holy Trinity Square in the Tvrđa to the Jewish Community building in Radićeva Street.
Led by Professor Tomislav Vuković, the tour builds on previous walks through Osijek's Upper and Lower Towns, offering new insights into the history of the city's Jewish community. Along the way, participants will discover what became of the valuable collections once owned by prominent Jewish families, visit the site formerly known as Hitler Square, explore the complex question of whether one could be both Jewish and a member of the Ustaša movement, learn about the writer Roda Roda and why his bust stands in front of the City Library, and become acquainted with the lives and fates of other distinguished Osijek citizens before the devastation of the Holocaust.
Cette visite en scène propose une immersion au cœur de la synagogue de Carpentras, le plus ancien lieu de culte juif encore en activité en France. Elle met en lumière le patrimoine exceptionnel de ce monument ainsi que l'histoire singulière des « Juifs du Pape », communauté qui vécut pendant plusieurs siècles sous la protection des États pontificaux dans le Comtat Venaissin.
Guidée par une médiatrice du patrimoine du service Culture et Patrimoine de la CoVe, la visite retrace l'implantation, le quotidien et l'héritage culturel des communautés juives du Comtat, tout en présentant les caractéristiques architecturales et patrimoniales de la synagogue de Carpentras, témoin majeur de cette histoire. Les visiteurs découvrent ainsi un patrimoine matériel et immatériel unique, inscrit dans l'histoire locale et européenne.
