Jewish Culture Festival "European Days of Jewish Culture in Chernivtsi" with the participation of various amateur groups and individual performers in partnership with the Jewish Community of Chernivtsi, namely:
– choreographic group "Jewish Miniatures" (Lviv),
– Jewish song ensemble "Strudel Band" (Lviv),
– Jewish vocal ensemble "Simhe" (Vinnytsia),
– vocal ensemble "Aviv" (Sumy).

Le Dibbouk, monument théâtral de la culture juive, fut créée en 1920 durant une période de grands bouleversements mondiaux prélude aux catastrophes qui ont suivi. Nous vivons de nos jours un basculement de l’Histoire, une époque de fureur où nos repères se fissurent. Comme le souligne le sous-titre de la pièce, nous voici “entre deux mondes”.
Le Dibbouk raconte une histoire d’amour et de possession hantée par le souvenir de fiancés massacrés lors d’un pogrom dans un shtetl le jour de leur mariage.
Comme une répétition de l’Histoire, de nouveau nous sommes rappelés au souvenir des heures tragiques de l’humanité.

The concert willl be dedicated to the Jewish tango as the little known genre of music, song and dance which had many representatives in Galicia before the World War II .
During the concert in the historical First Jewish theater there will be performed the musical works of the remarkable Jewish composers, singers, poets who worked in that genre – .Benzion Witler, Oscar Strok, Emanuel Shlechter and others.
The concert will unite on one stage Ukrainian and Polish singers, dancers and artists.
It will be the first performance of the Jewish tango in Lviv after the World War II.

Spectacle Théâtrale sur le "CANTIQUE DES CANTIQUES" par la Troupe Promethéa dirigée par Alain ILLEL
« Le Cantique des Cantiques », poème biblique attribué à Salomon, adapté ici pour le théâtre, est centré sur le dialogue entre l'Épouse (la Bien-aimée) et l'Époux (le Bien-aimé), avec un chœur des Filles de Jérusalem, évoquent désir, attente, union et beauté physique, dans une structure dramatique naturelle. Il est régulièrement récité dans les synagogues.
Deuxième partie «Lettre au LETTRE AU PERE de F. KAFKA avec Sébastien CHARTON et Alain ILLEL
Une nouvelle de Franz Kafka , dans laquelle l’auteur avoue à son père tous les mots qu’il n’a jamais osé lui dire. Le père l’écoute sans un mot, et lui montre toute sa peine, qu’il n’a jamais pu lui exprimer.

The Festival consists of three blocks:
1 – History – visiting the Museum of Holocaust
2 – Jewish Traditional Food workshop
3 – Concert "Ich hob dih lib!" ( "I love you so much!"). Local and guest music, vocal and dance groups will perform in the concert.

"Sobre la Tirania" is a powerful journey through the mistakes and warnings of the twentieth century, aimed at strengthening democratic values in the present. Actor Òscar Intente, combining words and images, guides us through a captivating visual experience using a vintage projector that creates a unique atmosphere of historical memory. Drawing on the events that led to the rise of authoritarian regimes in Europe, this performance becomes a wake-up call, reminding us of the dangers that threaten our freedoms today. A necessary reflection for anyone who values democracy and its future.

About the performance
Babel's Odessa Stories are inspired by the Bible. From the Old Testament comes the conflict between the chosen Jewish people and the Russian state, which was destroying in pogroms the civilisation of a biblical people condemned for all time as criminal because the Jews had betrayed and condemned the Christian saviour. On this historical destiny, the Jews of Odessa built their New Testament paradise on earth, or rather in the underworld of Odessa: a paradise ruled by the laws of bandits and smugglers. Babel described the Odes bandits and their brutal reckonings; everyone was involved in terror and death, from the gang members to the craftsmen, the disabled old men and the child violin virtuosos of ethnically mixed Odessa.

Ein eindringliches Porträt jüdischen Lebens in Prag – basierend auf Briefen, Erinnerungen und literarischen Fragmenten

Ottla David – Schwester Franz Kafkas – wächst in Prag auf, geprägt von familiärer Enge und geistiger Nähe zu ihrem Bruder. Während Franz mit Worten ringt, widmet Ottla sich dem Leben, dem Widerstand und schließlich den Kindern im Waisenhaus von Theresienstadt.
Das Stück rekonstruiert ihre Geschichte anhand erhaltener Briefe, Augenzeugenberichten und Erinnerungen ihrer Tochter Vera. Es entsteht das eindrucksvolle Bild einer mutigen Frau, deren Menschlichkeit selbst unter unmenschlichen Bedingungen nicht zerbricht.
Kafkas Zitate durchziehen das Stück wie eine geistige Verbindung – zart, poetisch und schmerzlich klar.

„Ottla“ ist ein stilles Stück Erinnerung, getragen von literarischer Kraft und historischer Wahrheit. Ein Monolog der leisen Stimmen.

Theatre performance The Story of a Book. The Prague premiere of this original adaptation of the nearly century-long history of the Strach family from Brno is based on the story of a a holiday prayer book, the Machzor, confiscated during World War II in Terezín. After 82 years, it was rediscovered and returned to the family of its original owners. The Machzor was part of a collection of 12,000 prayer books confiscated from Jews in concentration camps on the territory of the Czech Republic.
As part of the Library of Stolen Hopes project, the Jewish Community of Brno strives not only to archive these books but above all to trace the descendants of the original owners and return the volumes to them.
