„Echo of the Synagogues” is the latest initiative of Pantograf Association that brings to the forefront the stories and emotions surrounding the synagogues.
It consists of a series of 5 concerts that will take place in 5 cities in western Romania: Arad, Timișoara, Reșița, Caransebeș, and Lugoj. Bălănescu Quartet will perform a suite for string quartet and male voice alongside Emanuel Pusztai, the chief hazzan of the Jewish community of Romania.
The musical works are original pieces composed by Alexander Bălănescu, which find their inspiration in the Jewish rituals and the religious prayers that accompany the cycle of life. Alexander Bălănescu adds to these compositions a special personal note – his own experience as a Jew who had to leave Romania during communism.
The concerts take place as follows:
Monday, September 4, at 7 PM | Neolog Synagogue in Arad
Tuesday, September 5, at 7 PM | Cetate Synagogue in Timișoara
Wednesday, September 6 at 7PM | Reșița Synagogue
Thursday, September 7 at 5 PM | “Beit El” Synagogue in Caransebeș
Thursday, September 7 at 8 PM | Neolog Synagogue in Lugoj
Admission to the concerts is free, and no prior registration is required.
“The Echo of the Synagogues" project is co-financed by the Administration of the National Cultural Fund. The project does not necessarily represent the position of the Administration of the National Cultural Fund. AFCN is not responsible for the content of the project or how the results of the project may be used. These are entirely the responsibility of the beneficiary of the funding.
The project is included in the European Days of Jewish Culture 2023 – annual theme “Memory” – coordinated at European level by AEJP (European Association for the Preservation and Promotion of the Jewish Culture and Heritage), and in Romania by Tarbut Foundation Sighet. Co-financed by the European Union.

The project is part of the national cultural programme "Timișoara – European Capital of Culture in 2023" and is funded through the Grow Timișoara 2023 programme, implemented by the Center for Projects Timișoara, with funds allocated from the state budget, through the budget of the Ministry of Culture.

The House Party at Mietek Weinberg’s is an event that takes place every year by the wall of the tenement house at 66 Żelazna Street in Warsaw – Weinberg’s family home.

Gemeinsam mit dem musikalischen Leiter Patrick Farrell präsentieren die drei Kantorinnen Sveta Kundish, Aviv Weinberg und Rachel Weston ein außergewöhnliches Konzerterlebnis aus Musikstilen und Sprachen. Von traditionellen Khazones, jiddischen Liedern und chassidischen Nigunim bis hin zu moderner Synagogenmusik und hebräischen Melodien feiert dieses Konzert weiblich kantorale Stimmen und die Fortführung der liturgischen Tradition.

Le clarinettiste Hélios Azoulay a écrit un texte de présentation magnifique , inséré dans la réédition d’un ouvrage émouvant pour enfants ” Pour Tommy” écrit par le père de Tommy, avant d’être déporté, et dont l’exemplaire original , trouvé caché dans le camps de Terezin vient d’être déposé au Musée de Berlin

Der Berliner Rabbiner Walter Rothschild, Weltbürger, Autor, Eisenbahn-Spezialist, Unikum, Problem-Bär und Kabarettist erzählt aus seinem Leben und singt leider – pardon: Lieder.
Er ist nicht nur ein außerordentlicher jüdischer Gelehrter, sondern ebenso begnadeter Geschichtenerzähler mit britisch-jüdischem Witz, Charme und Biss. Begleitet wird er vom Komponisten und Pianisten Max Doehlemann am (und unter dem ) Klavier.
Zusammen bringen sie ein witziges, nachdenkliches, in jedem Fall kurzweiliges Programm auf die Bühne.

Wir halten für jung und alt ein Wissensquiz und vielfältige Informationen über jüdische Kultur in Geschichte und Gegenwart bereit. Wir sind zu finden von 12:00 bis 17:00 Uhr auf dem Festivalgelände. Wir freuen uns auf den Austausch mit Ihnen und Euch!
Beim Südstadt-Rock Open Air gibt es vielfältige Angebote für Kinder und Jugendliche, Familien und junge Erwachsene bis 27 Jahren. Auf zwei Bühne ist Livemusik im Bereich Rock, Pop und Rap zu hören. Diverse Verkaufs- und Spielstände sorgen für einen entspannten Festivalcharakter.

Im Mittelpunkt des Konzerts stehen kleine musikalische Formen. Der historische Bogen spannt sich vom Zeitalter des Barock bis in die unmittelbare Gegenwart (wobei auch eigene Kompositionen von Anton Peisakhov erklingen). Dabei stehen etablierte Konzertformen neben solchen aus Musicals und aus religiösen Kontexten. Ein Schwerpunkt liegt auf der Musik jüdischer Komponisten.
Die in Baku (Aserbaidschan) geborene Pianistin Marina Lejmfirer hat am Staatlichen Aserbaidschanischen Konservatorium Musik studiert und dort auch als Konzertpianistin ihren Abschluss mit Auszeichnung gemacht. In den 1980er und 1990er Jahren ist sie als Solistin, Ensemblemitglied und Klavierbegleiterin in der gesamten UdSSR aufgetreten.
