During the guided tour, visitors will learn about the centuries-old Jewish life and presence in the Goriška region, as well as about some prominent members of what was once a strong and diverse community, and their activities and involvement in the everyday life in this region. The dissolution of Austria-Hungary and the establishment of a new national border between Italy and the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes (later Yugoslavia) after World War I also had a significant impact on the Jewish life in the Goriška region. The preserved Jewish material heritage illustrates this very clearly, as the synagogue and the former ghetto are today located in Italy, while the Jewish cemetery is in Slovenia. Accordingly, the guided tour will be divided into two parts: in the morning, participants will have the opportunity to visit the synagogue and the ghetto, while the Sunday gathering will conclude in the afternoon with a tour of the Jewish cemetery and the former funeral hall, followed by a tasting of kosher food and wine.

The guided tour of the Jewish sites in the Goriška region will be led by Dr Renato Podbersič and Lorenzo Drascek, who are also the initiators and organisers of the event. The guided tour will be conducted in Slovenian and Italian.
