The townhall of Tarazona (Zaragoza), member of the Jewish quarter of Spain, about the preparation of a sefard bakery workshop because of the Rosh Hashaná, inside the celebration of the Jewish Culture Conference 2026.
Within the “Cities Embracing Jewish Heritage” conference, sponsored by European Association for the Safety and Promotion of the Jewish Culture and Heritage 2026, it has been proposed a cultural workshop about Jewish bakery during the month of September. The workshop will be done from the cultural, historic and gastronomic perspective, the goal with it is to give the people from Tarazona a gaze upon the traditions, symbols and way of life linked to the celebration of the Jewish Heritage in Spain.
The proposal consist in the realization of a cooking workshop where traditional recipes associated with Rosh Hashaná will be made and explained. Furthermore, the symbolic meaning of certain dishes that are in the festivity, such as honey, apples, pomegranates and some sweets and breads, will also be explained.
The activity itself will include an introduction about the legacy of the Jewish community in the city, alongside the key weight of the gastronomy as cultural immaterial patrimony and a way to pass the memory, way of living and intercultural dialogue.
The activity is consider valid within the main goals for the conference, due to stick to the goal of put he Jewish patrimony on a scale, improve the dialogue between cultures. The opportunity to participate on the activity is adapted to all kinds of audience, the activity is free and open to anyone who wants to participate.
The activity is also linked with the slogan of the European Conference of the Jewish Culture 2026, “LOVE”, seen as a meeting that reflects hospitality with the transmission of the family traditions.
With all this presented, we inform the presentation of this proposal to the announcement of “Cities Embracing Jewish Heritage” 2026.
