This September, we invite you to a special programme of events at the Museum of Culture and Identity of Lithuanian Jews to mark the European Days of Jewish Culture and the European Heritage Days.

This year's theme for the European Days of Jewish Culture is “Love”, while the European Heritage Days encourage us to protect, cherish and revive what we have inherited. Throughout the programme, we will explore the things we love and wish to preserve: our family histories, culture, traditions, heritage and the stories safeguarded in museums. Visitors can enjoy a diverse programme of guided tours, lectures, educational activities and workshops.

6 September, 11:00 | An Introduction to Family History Research with Raminta Bindokaitė
How far back does your family memory reach? Raminta Bindokaitė, a specialist at the Lithuanian State Historical Archives, will introduce the basics of genealogical research and the archival documents that can help trace family origins, uncover family connections and reconstruct your family history.

6 September, 12:00 | Workshop: “How to Preserve Family Objects for Future Generations” with Žymantė Kasperavičienė and Jurgita Blažytė
Bring along an object that has been preserved in your family and consult the museum's preventive conservation specialists and conservators on how to care for and preserve it properly for future generations.

6 September, 14:00 | Interactive Experience and Tasting: “What Lithuanian Jews Eat and How They Prepare Food” with educator Goda Žvirblytė
Through the principles of kosher dietary laws and the everyday lives of Lithuanian Jews, we will explore Jewish culture and traditions. We will visit the museum's exhibitions, discuss festive dishes and their meanings, and conclude the session with a tasting of traditional bagels.

6 September, 16:00 | Lecture: “Love Through Jewish Eyes” with Natalja Cheifec
What does Jewish tradition have to say about love? Natalja Cheifec will invite participants to explore this universal emotion through the lens of Jewish culture and tradition.

8 September, 17:00 | Guided Tour of the Exhibition “(Re)Discoveries of the Great Synagogue of Vilnius” and a Presentation of a Favourite Exhibit with Dr Dovilė Čypaitė-Gilė

9 September, 17:00 | “Love at First Exhibit” with Natalja Cheifec, Goda Žvirblytė and Liza Muchnik
During this special interactive tour, three of the museum's educators will share their personal perspectives on the collection and introduce their favourite exhibits—the objects that surprise, delight or make them reflect the most. Will their choices overlap, or will they reveal details that have so far gone unnoticed?

13 September, 12:00 | “Archaeologist's Workshop: Discover, Assemble and Recognise the Past!” with educator Goda Žvirblytė
An educational activity for families, inviting participants to explore the past through investigation, discovery and finding answers for themselves.

15 September, 16:00 | Lecture: “Love Through Jewish Eyes” with Natalja Cheifec
What does Jewish tradition have to say about love? Natalja Cheifec will invite participants to explore this universal emotion through the lens of Jewish culture and tradition.

16 September, 16:00 | Yom Kippur with Natalja Cheifec
A European Heritage Days event dedicated to exploring Yom Kippur, one of the most important days in the Jewish religious calendar.

24 September, 16:00 | Sukkot with Natalja Cheifec
A European Heritage Days event inviting participants to learn about the festival of Sukkot, its traditions and meanings.

On 6 September, admission to the museum and all activities are free of charge.
