Festival of Jewish Culture in Ljubljana 2026 – EDJC

The 2026 European Days of Jewish Culture in Ljubljana offer four days of cultural, educational and artistic events celebrating Jewish heritage as an essential part of Slovenia’s and Europe’s shared cultural landscape.
The programme includes the opening of the new permanent exhibition on the history of Jews in Slovenia, Shabbat celebrations, klezmer concerts by the Budapest ensemble Hamsa, theatre performances, literary events dedicated to Nobel Prize laureate Imre Kertész, an exhibition by Hungarian photographer István Sajó, children’s workshops, kosher street food and culinary presentations, guided tours, discussions on Holocaust remembrance and contemporary antisemitism, and a special screening of the Academy Award-winning film Son of Saul, followed by a conversation with actor and poet Géza Röhrig.
Throughout the festival, the historic Križevniška Street becomes an open cultural space where visitors of all generations can experience Jewish culture through music, dialogue, art, literature and shared traditions. By connecting historical memory with contemporary Jewish life, the festival reflects the 2026 theme LOVE.
